Annual General Meeting of the Festival

The Wetherby Arts Festival is a charity and a company limited by guarantee.

Members are entitled to vote to select Directors at the AGM.
Its Directors/Trustees are currently Robert Haskins (Chair), John Cuthbertson (Finance) and Michael Harvey (Programme). We were seconded onto the Board in place of the previous directors, part way through last year.

Though this left us with less time to plan the 2016 Festival (the 39th), we received a great deal of help from some
great people, now friends, old and new, and were able to celebrate in some style.

Thanks are due to the Wetherby Rotary Club, the Lions and our sponsors Hart Law and Renton & Parr, amongst many others, and to the Wetherby Town Council and Leeds City Ward Councillors for their financial support.
It helped make for a successful ‘small’ Festival over the weekend of 14-16 October with something like an 85% attendance overall. There were 9 main events plus, for the first time, a ‘Fringe’.

This year we are starting to plan for a week-long programme over 14-22 October in thisour 40th year.
So put that in your diaries now. We obviously need even more participation and assistance for our right royal ‘Ruby’ year; so start by coming along to the AGM and give us your feedback. We’d welcome your ideas. Bring your friends!

An encouraging letter from Founder Member, Ted Kilner

"As Founder Member, Life Member and erstwhile Director of Wetherby Festival,
you have no idea how pleased I was to hear that the Festival has risen
like a phoenix - after the thousands of hours spent creating the Constitution,
acquiring Charitable Status and creating Company Status,
and presenting many Festivals in my thirty-two years' association.
    I wish you well.
It seems you have gathered an experienced team together
but if you ever need any help please let me know!
I hope to come over, probably to the Literary Lunch (I have not missed one yet!)
Keep up the good work. All the best,Ted Kilner."
