Elizabeth de Monchaux

‘I have been a practising artist and sculptor for over 25 years and I make work for exhibition and commission. I have used a range of materials and methods in the course of my career.

Abstract in nature, my work is strongly influenced by both the natural and the built environment. I make sculptures using geometric forms to create objects, installations and wall reliefs. I employ digital photography to create images as an extension of my sculptural work. Recently, I have used seed heads of plants to create images as well as the basis for sculptures made in the first instance from paper.

I am interested in the physicality of the object and the process of making and presenting the work. I like the idea that viewers can imbue a work with their own meaning.  Whatever my intention in an artwork is, it is always fluid, for it is impossible to predict the reaction of the audience.’
