Welcome to the August Festival Newsletter!

TICKETS NOW ON SALE!

Art, comedy, folk, transport, photography, literature, flowers, walking, wine… we offer all of these  but…

Oh, you like Music? There’s plenty to choose from at our 45th Festival which starts on 29th September! For your delectation:

The Swing Commanders, a stunningly vibrant and versatile group that perform an exciting mix of 1940’s classics, boogie-woogie, western swing, 50’s jump jazz and more, return to The Engine Shed on 5th October. Come along for a good old-fashioned, and new fashioned, swing evening. Dancing allowed, they say! (Hosted by Jordans Solicitors.)

Phoenix Concert Band is a large wind orchestra with players from Leeds and the surrounding area, led by acclaimed Musical Director Keiron Anderson, who will be at The Engine Shed on 2nd October.

And there will be an evening of classical music at St James Church from Leeds Symphony Orchestra (header above), which has been a staple of Festivals throughout our past; it’s sure fire enjoyment from an orchestra founded in 1890 and still entertaining audiences all over Yorkshire. That’s on 30th September with music from Brahms and Humperdinck.

If you like movies and music, you can enjoy a Silent Movie Legends afternoon at Wetherby Cinema (also our hosts) with classic piano accompaniment just like the good old days on the afternoon of 4th October (starring Laurel and Hardy and Buster Keaton).

Of course, that’s not all we are offering this October so to find out much more here on our website where you can also buy your tickets NOW!
We will be opening the Box Office at the Town Hall next month for those of you who prefer those good old-fashioned physical tickets, look out for dates!

Don’t forget, the Festival is run totally by volunteers, so if you’d like to help, please get in touch.

Before you go take a look at our YouTube video, a trailer for October!

The Wetherby Festival Committee

And a very big thank you to our sponsors Hart Law, Renton & Parr, Jordans Solicitors, Wetherby Town Council, our Ward Councillors, Wetherby Cinema, Wetherby Lions and Clare’s Creations.
