Welcome to June’s Festival Newsletter
Our 46th Wetherby Festival starts on FRIDAY 4TH OCTOBER and runs until 12th October.
And exciting news this month!! We have, for the first time, a Comedy Poetry Competition which will be judged by no less a celebrity than the Bard of Barnsley, Ian McMillan!
There are four prizes up for grabs, with a £25 book token awarded to each winner:
Funniest Poem in the World
Funniest Poem in Yorkshire
Funniest Poem, ages 12-16
Funniest Poem, ages 11 and under
The performance is as important as the writing, so don’t be afraid to think creatively. Send us a video or present your poem in an unexpected way.

We also have confirmed two internationally famous writers for the Literary Lunch on Friday 11th October. Come and eat and meet (please don’t eat the authors!) Linda Green and Harry Whittaker (son of Lucinda Riley) who will be talking about their best sellers as well as signing books for you. There’s so much more but that’s enough excitement for now!
The full event schedule, together with the usual ticket-buying facility, will be available at wetherbyfestival.co.uk and we will be opening the Box Office for those of you who prefer physical tickets.
